I was privileged to have been one of her nursing aid students in the mid 70s. Not only did she teach nursing skills, but she instilled the importance of respect and dignity for our patients and our co-workers. She was a great mentor for many of us in Newton County who went on to the health care profession, or who did not, but carry her teachings with us still today.
She was such a sweetheart and a really good neighbor to have. She was part of my family to us. I will miss her and her beautiful smile. I am thankful she is in a better place now, I love you Betty you will be missed.
Betty taught me how to be a CNA. I remember her coming into our class dress in her white uniform with panty hose with runs, make up real dark and the brightest red lipstick chewing gum. She said to the class and I quote " This is not how you will represent this facility." I never forgot that. She will be missed. Prayers to the family.
