Obituary for Larry A. George

Larry A.  George
Larry A. George, 67, of Monon, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in Noblesville. He was born in Rensselaer on May 30, 1949, son of the late Lyle E. George and Kathryn J. (Laffoon) George. He was a lifelong area resident.

Larry graduated from Rensselaer High School with the class of 1967. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On October 14, 1972, in Monon, he married his wife of 43 years, Gayla A. (Tiede) George. Larry and Gayla had four children: David, Scott, Tim, and Macie. His family was everything to him. Larry was a mechanic for the U.S. Post Office in Lafayette. Prior to that, he was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Monticello American Legion Post #81 and VFW Post #2231. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and attending country music concerts with his wife.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Gayla George of Monon; three sons: David George of Wolcott, Scott (Michele) George of Brookston, and Tim (Keera) George of Reynolds; one daughter, Macie (T.J.) Johnson of Noblesville; one brother, Steve (Patti) George of Fort Myers, Florida; one sister, Sandy Thacker of Arizona; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Terry George; and one sister, Pamela George.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 1-5 p.m. CDT (2-6 p.m. EDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. CDT (11 a.m. EDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with lifelong friend Russ Overton officiating.
