Obituary for Warren D. Graefnitz

Warren D.  Graefnitz
Warren D. Graefnitz, 90, of Morocco, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Linton, Indiana. He was born in Lake Village on June 23, 1926, son of the late Albert F. Graefnitz and Beulah (Jackson) Graefnitz. He graduated from Morocco High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On November 21, 1948, in Lafayette, he married his wife of 64 years, Bonnie (Kellogg) Graefnitz. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2013.

Warren was a carpenter. He built custom cabinets and owned a cabinet shop in Lake Village from the time he got out of the Navy until 1963. He owned and operated Graefnitz Lumber Company from 1963-1978. He built many homes in the Morocco area. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing with his wife at the American Legion in Bradley, Illinois. He also enjoyed his antique 1964 Rambler, for which he received many awards at local car shows.

Warren is survived by his two children: Dale Graefnitz (Linda) of Kankakee, Illinois and Lyn Pittman (Tim Bucy) of Spencer, Indiana; three grandchildren: Travis, Allison and Chris; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Bonnie; one brother, Russell Graefnitz; and two sisters, Ruth Padgett and Mary Vorpagel.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.
