My...where do I start? Having grown up in Goodland back in the "good ole days" of the 1950s I knew the Zimmer family. I took piano lessons from Grandma Cecilia, was flower girl in Aunt Loretta's wedding to Merle...and had a very special friend in Andie :-)
We were members of the junior choir at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Katy Drummond as leader (PS she could not sing a note on key!!). Every Christmas Eve Andie and I sang a duet of "O Holy Night" at Midnight Mass. We did a good job! I loved singing with her. I was so happy to see her attending the Goodland Alumni (old age prevents me from remembering if that was this past year or year before, but it doesn't really matter. Andie didn't see me come up behind her chair, but I leaned down and started singing that song. She turned around and saw me, gave me a big grin and a hug. I do not sing that song EVER without thinking of us doing it as a duet on Christmas Eve. She said she does the same thing.
We know where she is at, and we also know she leaves a grieving family behind. Keep the good memories close to you and know she is with you always. My love and prayers to all,
Mary Anne (Templin) Best
