Obituary for Bonnie Deardurff

Bonnie Deardurff, 92, of Morocco, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook. Bonnie was born on December 2, 1920, daughter of the late Hazel and Roxie Jane (Russell) Hammel. She was a lifetime Morocco resident.

Bonnie graduated from Morocco High School. Her marriage was to the late Carl “Dutch” Deardurff. Bonnie started working for the Morocco Post Office right out of high school, and worked there for 53 years as clerk and postmaster. She was a very active member of the United Church of Morocco. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards.

Bonnie is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Feasley of Woodbury, NJ, and Phyllis Brees of Kentland. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and three brothers.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m. at the United Church of Morocco. Rev. Thomas D. Vance officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the United Church of Morocco. Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco is handling the arrangements.
