Obituary for Richard W. Bremer

Richard W.  Bremer
Richard W. Bremer, 79, of Rensselaer, passed away at his home on Friday, June 1, 2018. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 30, 1938, the son of Wesley Bremer and Irma (Engquist) Bremer. He graduated from Steinmetz College Prep High School in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1963. He earned his associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University. He was an accountant for Plano Molding Company. On October 2, 1964, in Chicago, Richard married his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Schaden) Bremer.

Richard was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Barrington Masonic Lodge #522, Scottish Rite, and Medinah Shriners, for which he rode a Big Wheel. He enjoyed playing Pinochle, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Bremer; his son, Wesley (Jeanine) Bremer; two daughters, Kendra Hawkins and Valerie (Tony) Eaton; four grandchildren: R.J. Crowe, Megan Hawkins, Kaytlyn Eaton, and Devon Eaton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Ralph.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home, 403 N. Front St., Rensselaer, IN 47978. A Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m., followed by a brief prayer service with Pastor John Hostetter officiating.
