Obituary for Olga "Lala" Rayonec (Woloshansky)

Olga “Lala” Rayonec, 63, of Rensselaer, passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. She was born in Gary on September 10, 1954, the daughter of Helen (Tolwynski) Woloshansky and the late Harry Woloshansky. She graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary with the class of 1972. She had resided in Jasper County since 1984.

Lala’s life revolved around her two grandkids: Italy and London. She babysat them often and cherished the time she spent with them.

She loved animals. She raised a deer and took care of a vulture, nursing it back to health. She used to show dogs. Her favorite breed was Borzoi (Russian wolfhounds). She also enjoyed watching the swans on her pond.

Lala had a green thumb and had beautiful flowers on her farm. Her favorite flowers were yellow tulips. She also had distinctive, beautiful handwriting.

She used to drive a school bus and is remembered for her ability to swiftly back her bus up and maneuver it up the hill at her farm.

Olga is survived by her two children: Ryan Frank Rayonec and Tina Lynn Hall (husband: Scott); her two grandchildren, Italy and London; and two brothers, Ihor Alexander Woloshansky (wife: Linda) and Mike Woloshansky (wife: Donna). She was preceded in death by her father.
