Obituary for Florence "Dee" Parkison

Florence "Dee" Parkison
Florence Parkison (Dee, Aunt Tommy, Grandma), passed away on July 23, 2017, not long after her 90th birthday. Dee was married to the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Parkison, for 43 years, until his death in 1990. She will be remembered lovingly by her children Dianna (Maddox), Larry (Mary), and Robert (Debbie) and by her grandchildren Robin, Robert, Wendy, Doug, Misty, and Shawn, as well as 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a great many nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family, and dear friends.

Born July 6, 1927 in Rensselaer, IN, Dee left school after eighth grade to help her family through the Depression. Dee married Bob in 1947 and later moved with her own family to Jackson, MI, and then Sussex, WI. Among other occupations, she owned a restaurant and tavern, and she was a manager and supervisor for national retail chains. She lived the past 32 years in Bradenton, FL.

Dee kept a magnificent garden. She had a gift for commanding a room and a generous heart. She was someone anyone would be grateful to have in their corner. Her house was a home to many and a second home to many more. We love her and will miss her deeply.

Dee is predeceased by her husband, Bob; son-in-law, David Maddox; her parents, Azariah and Agnes Warren; all 11 of her brothers and sisters; two grandchildren; and many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law. Share memories and condolences online at www.SteinkeFuneralHome.com.

Interment will be at the Barkley Cemetery in Rensselaer, IN.
