Obituary for Garner Wireman Sr.

Garner Wireman Sr.
Garner Wireman, Sr., 80, of Rensselaer, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He was born in Kentucky on December 27, 1936, the son of Dewey and Anna (Bailey) Wireman. He resided in Rensselaer most of his life, except for a few years in Arizona and New Mexico.

On September 9, 1969, in Palmyra, Missouri, he married Donna (Brown) Wireman. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2007.

Garner worked as a maintenance engineer for UGN Automotive in Valparaiso, retiring in 2009. He was an active member of the Faith Pentecostal Church of God. He enjoyed working on cars, listening to music, and, most importantly, serving the Lord.

Garner was a great storyteller and shared with others about his many adventures. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, dedication to others, and his faith. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and church community.

He is survived by his loving family: two sons, Rusty Wireman of Crawfordville, Florida and Garner Wireman, Jr. (wife: Danielle) of Lapel, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Darlene Chambers (husband: Ron) of Rensselaer; eight grandchildren: “Braddy”, Christopher, Brandi, JD, Zoë, Reid, Cassie, and Eric; two stepdaughter-in-laws, Sherry Shaw of Mesa, Arizona and Jenny Shaw of Rochester, Indiana; two sisters, Louise Dunn and Sue Stone; and one brother, Wallace Wireman; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Donna; two stepsons, James Shaw and John Shaw; and his parents, Dewey and Anna Wireman; and many siblings.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Faith Pentecostal Church of God, 3385 N. U.S. Highway 231, Rensselaer, IN 47978. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Faith Pentecostal Church of God with Pastor Rick Helton officiating. Private family burial will be at Prater Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Pentecostal Church of God. Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer is handling the arrangements.
