Obituary for Mary Honegger (Davey)

Mary Honegger, 84, of rural Rensselaer, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 19, 2016. She was born in Delphos, Ohio on June 29, 1932, daughter of the late Robert Davey and Irene (Metzger) Davey.

Mary graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1950. After high school she attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and received her Nursing Degree in 1953. After working for a few years in nursing she enlisted in the United States Air Force for 2 years, serving her country in Omaha, Nebraska.

On November 24, 1956, she married her husband Alvin “Duard” Honegger at St Mary's Catholic Church in Frankfort, Indiana. She had worked at Jasper County Hospital and for the State Board of Health. She retired in 1994 and spent many years helping her husband on the family farm.

Mary loved playing dominoes, reading, and spending time with her husband and family. She was a member of the Home Ec Club and was also a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children: Alvin Duard Honegger Jr., Glenn Honegger, Virginia (Andrew) Fisher, and Grace (Michael) Majewski; three grandchildren: Audrey, Anthony, and Sarah Majewski; sisters: Virginia Mutka and Delores Schuttrow; and God son Patrick Schuttrow.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Duard; her parents; one sister, Grace Mann; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Davey.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Father Don Davison officiating. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery with military honors.
