Alvin Duard Honegger, Sr., 86, of rural Rensselaer, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. He was born in Francesville on June 8, 1930, son of the late Herman and Ida (Quasebarth) Honegger.
Duard graduated from Francesville High School with the class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On November 24, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Chuch in Frankfort, he married his wife of 59 years, Mary (Davey) Honegger. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. Duard was a lifelong farmer. Farming and family were his life.
Duard is survived by: his loving wife, Mary Honegger; children: Alvin Duard Honegger, Jr., Glenn Honegger, Virginia (Andrew) Fisher, Grace (Michael) Majewski, and Patrick Schuttrow (God son); three grandchildren: Audrey, Anthony, and Sarah Majewski; siblings: Phyllis Honegger Meyer, Kathleen Honegger (Fred) Manion, Ronald Honegger, and Delores Schuttrow.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Herman and Ida Honegger; brother Wayne Honegger; brother-in-law Francis Meyer; Cecil and Florence Gustin and Charles Schuttrow.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Father Don Davison officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt.
