Obituary for Marvin E. Miller

Marvin E.   Miller
Marvin E. Miller, age 90, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at Wittenberg Lutheran Village in Crown Point, Indiana. He was born in Remington, Indiana on November 14, 1925, son of the late Claude and Hilda (Christenson) Miller. He was a lifetime area resident. He graduated from Rensselaer High School with the class of 1944. After high school, Marvin served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On December 25, 1948, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he married his wife of 62 years, Evelyn J. (Vroman) Miller. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2011.

Marvin was a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Valparaiso, Indiana for 35 years. He was a member of the Rensselaer American Legion Post #29 and a charter member of the Rensselaer Moose Lodge. He was associated with Brushwood United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, his fruit trees, and following the stock market. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Community Thanksgiving dinners held at the American Legion.

Marvin is survived by his loving family: children: Carolyn (husband: John “Pat”) Staddon of Anacoco, Louisiana, David Miller of Savannah, Georgia, Herb (wife: Linda) Miller of Wolcott, Indiana, and JoAnn Miller of Rensselaer; one brother, Robert (wife: Marina) Miller of Rensselaer; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchilden. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; and nine brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 12 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Rev. Hyesook Kim officiating.
