Obituary for Deloris Engel (Holte)

Deloris  Engel (Holte)
Deloris Engel, 90, of Rensselaer, passed away at her home on Monday, July 4, 2016. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 19, 1926, daughter of the late Kathleen (O’Keefe) Holte. On April 24, 1948, in Lowell, she married Jerome P. Engel. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1984.

She was an Avon Cosmetics representative and also worked at a restaurant in Lake Village and Tom’s Supermarket in Rensselaer. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the St. Anne’s Club. She enjoyed bowling, and was a former Indiana State Champion. She also enjoyed playing solitaire and she loved to golf. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Deloris is survived by: daughter Kathleen (Lawrence) Sayers; son Jerome Anthony (Kimberly) Engel; one sister, Joan (Bill) Babincsak; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Jerome; one son, Thomas Engel; one brother, Jack Holte; and one sister, Carol Babincsak.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Father Don Davison officiating.
