Obituary for Helen Marie Northern (Tatlock)
Helen Marie Northern, 80, of Rensselaer, passed away Tuesday morning, February 9, 2016 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born in Warren County, Indiana on July 20, 1935, the daughter of the late Raymond and Etta Mae (Trimble) Tatlock.
Helen grew up on her parents’ farm along with most of her ten brothers and sisters in Rensselaer. She married Dayton Northern in 1952 and they had three children.
Helen was always a generous person even though she never had much. She was always the life of the party with her cheerful wit, and she never complained about anything. She loved to play bingo and participate in all the activities at the Rensselaer Care Center during her three years stay. She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Helen is survived by one son, Jeffery L. Northern (wife: Maria) of Mesquite, Nevada; daughter-in-law, Nellie A. Northern of Remington; six grandchildren: Jimmy Adams, Misty M. Hammond, Johnny R. Northern, Tim Sanders, Ben J. Northern (wife: Christy Valsente), and David Rane Garrard; great-grandchildren: Makayla, Devin, Kelcie, Austin and Shaylyn Northern, Bailie Sanders, and Katie, Dylan, Nicholas, Brandon and David Garrard; five sisters: Dorothy, Linda, Glenda, Monica and Marcia; and three brothers: Don, Jeff and Dennis.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Dayton R. Northern; one daughter, Debra Ann Garrard; one son, John Ray Northern; and two brothers, Adrian and Aaron Tatlock.
Interment will be at Fowler Cemetery at a later date.
