Obituary for Dorothy Pearl Salyers-Hunt

Dorothy Pearl  Salyers-Hunt
Dorothy P. Salyers-Hunt, 96, of Rensselaer, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016. She was born in Ellettsville, Indiana on May 3, 1919 to the late Jesse and Grace (Robertson) Ellis.

She attended Barkley Township School and married Lonnie Salyers on September 27, 1941. He passed away in 1981. Dorothy worked on the family farm, at Sealy Springs, Jasper County Hospital and was a self-employed caregiver. She was affiliated with New Beginnings Ministry of Francesville. Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends. Later in life she married Norman Hunt on July 19, 1986. He passed away in 2005.

Dorothy is survived by sons, Doug (Diana) Salyers and Larry (Karen) Salyers; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; siblings, Doris Alexander, Evelyn Thacker and Eugene Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; three brothers; and three sisters.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 10:00 a.m until 1 p.m. CST at Steinke Funeral of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Pastor Melvin Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery.
