Obituary for Enrique H. "Henry" Reyes Sr.

Enrique H. "Henry"  Reyes Sr.
Enrique H. “Henry” Reyes, Sr., 79, of Rensselaer, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born in Weslaco, Texas on July 15, 1936, the son of the late Anicieto and Jaunita (Hinajosa) Reyes. Henry grew up in Texas and moved to Rensselaer when he was 17. On February 21, 1953, in Texas, he married Rosa (Saucedo) Reyes. She preceded him in death in 1989.

Henry was a factory worker and retired from Northway Products after 25 years. After his retirement, he was an RV transport driver, delivering motorhomes throughout the U.S. for 6 years. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. He was a former Boy Scout Leader in Mount Ayr. He enjoyed hunting and archery, and was a member of the Iroquois Archery Club. He was a big Chicago Bears fan, and he enjoyed spending time at the Rensselaer Raceway, and hanging out with his friends Dick Potts and Buddy Pullins.

Henry is survived by his loving family: six children: Henry (Liz) Reyes, Jr., Herlinda (Steve) Teach, Estella Perez, Ernie (Connie) Reyes, Lolly (Bill) Bruce, and Elaine Gembala; one brother, Joe Reyes; two sisters, Angie (Silver) Salas and Julie (Robert) Salazar; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Rosa; and his son, Eddie.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home at 4 p.m. with Father Don Davison officiating. A Rosary Service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Pastor Edwin Bontreger officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A funeral dinner will be take place at the Fellowship of Living Hope following interment. Memorials are suggested to the Iroquois Archery Club.
