Obituary for John L. Raper

John L.  Raper
John L. Raper, 80, of Morocco, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook. He was born in Iroquois County, Illinois on March 15, 1935, son of the late Benjamin Harrison Raper and Bethel (Lewis) Raper. He was a lifelong area resident.

On November 18, 1957, in Remington, John married Eva Jean Potts. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1958-1959. He was a machinist and had worked at Permonite Manufacturing in Morocco for 32 years, and Adkev in Goodland for nine years, retiring in 2000. John enjoyed fishing and spending summers and vacations with his wife at their cabin on Sand Lake in northern Minnesota.

John is survived by his loving wife, Eva Jean Raper; two nephews: Lyman Raper, Jr. and Paul Raper; two nieces: Linda Raper Brown and Clara Raper Goodrich; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and four brothers: James, Lloyd, Max and Lyman.

A graveside service with military rites will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Buswell Cemetery in Newton County. Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.
