Obituary for Florence E. "Edna" Putman (Woodward)

Florence E. "Edna"  Putman (Woodward)
Florence Edna Putman, 99, of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday morning, April 23, 2015 at Alternacare at Jasper County Hospital. She was born in Wheatfield on Sept. 27, 1915, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Kerr) Woodward.

Edna attended school in Rensselaer and had been a resident of Rensselaer for over 70 years. On Dec. 20, 1937, in Rensselaer, she married Forest Edger Putman. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1994. She was a caregiver and homemaker, retiring in 1987. Edna was the oldest member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working, gardening, going to antique shows and flea markets, and traveling. Edna and her husband Forest visited every state except for Alaska and Hawaii.

Edna is survived by her loving family: two sons, Harold Putman of Rensselaer and Richard (Lois) Putman of Merrillville; seven grandchildren: Laura Hafner of Rockville, Annette (George) Pettigrew of Bloomingdale, IL, Suzanna (Eric) Brandt of Glendale, IL, Renee (Rob) Henderson of Chesterton, Tina (Keith) Hays of Bloomington, Kim (Eric) Allison of Rensselaer, and Eric Putman of Rensselaer; twelve great grandchildren: Becky (David) Graves of Indiana, Stacy (Clint) Feldake of Indiana, Sherrie (Tom) Truax of Rockville, Justin Allison, Andrew Allison, and Breanna Allison, all of Rensselaer, Ashley Allison of Michigan, Brooke (Will) Fullingim of Indiana, Tera (Mike) Reath of California, Cody Hafner of Rockville, and John Henderson and Jacob Henderson, both of Chesterton; ten great-great grandchildren: Zavier Fullingim, Zander Fullingim, Michael Truax, Shia Nicole Truax, Colvin Feldake, Meghan Graves, Paige Graves, Brook Lynn Reath, Mackenzie Reath, and Emma Allison; three step-grandchildren: Rick (Diana) Deem of Hammond, Bill (Sherrie) Deem of Hobart, and Bonnie (Dale) Tulip of Rockville; eleven step-great grandchildren: Shannon, Christine, Breanna Tulip, Rick Deem, Jr., Steven Deem, Janell Deem, Danny Deem, Traci Deem, Dennal Petty, Dann Petty and Kyle Petty; and four step-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Woodward; her husband Forest Putman; four sisters; and one brother.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor John Hostetter officiating.
