Obituary for Janis Christine Allen (Goff)

Janis Christine Allen, 58, of Morocco, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her home. She was born in East Chicago, Indiana on August 24, 1956, daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Bayless) Goff. She had been a resident of Morocco for the past seven years, having moved there from Cedar Lake where she had lived for 32 years.

On March 10, 1973, in Hammond, Janis married Orbie Ray Allen. She had worked as a cosmetologist for Wittenberg Village retirement home and Colonial Nursing Home in Crown Point. She was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God in Morocco. She was known as “The Church Lady” and she enjoyed singing at her church. Christ was her passion.

Janis is survived by her loving family: husband Orbie Ray Allen of Morocco; one son, Daniel (Jodi) Allen of Valparaiso; two daughters, Christine Spencer of Kouts and Sandi (Dave) Adams of Lowell; one brother, Joe (Rosetta) Laas of Lake Station; four sisters: Arlene (Jimmy) O’Neill of Cleveland, Georgia, Diane Yankovich of Thornton, Illinois, Lila Wilkes of Cedar Lake, and Gail (Mike) Allen of Wanatah, Indiana; sister-in-law Billie Goff; brother-in-law John Wilkes; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; one brother; and one sister.

Friends may call on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. until time of memorial service at 5 p.m. at the Jubilee Worship Center, 415 N. Hobart Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Pastor Daniel Allen officiating. Memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church for the food pantry. Steinke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
