Obituary for Kent Wayne "Stoney" Stone

Kent Wayne "Stoney"  Stone
Kent Wayne Stone, 61, of Gifford, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at Jasper County Hospital. He was born in Ransom County, North Dakota on May 14, 1953, son of the late Milard and Shirley (Thomas) Stone. He attended school in Rensselaer and went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps.

On Feb. 11, 1994, in Rensselaer, Kent married Sharon (Murray) Giroux. He was a truck driver who drove for Yellow Freight, Rudolph Express, Highway Dispatch and Emmett Hopkins. He retired in 2005. He was a member of the Gifford Church of God and Rensselaer American Legion Post #29. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, taking care of his animals, and watching NASCAR and football. He was a diehard Indianapolis Colts fan.

Kent is survived by his loving family: wife Sharon Stone of Gifford; children: Brenda Giroux of Gifford, Kimberly Stone (boyfriend: John McKinney) of Goodland, and Amanda Hanson (husband: Jimmy) of Rensselaer; two brothers: Donald Adam Stone (wife: Julie) of Monterey, Indiana and Stephen Foster Stone (wife: Viola) of Rensselaer; four sisters: Gwendolyn Fraley (husband: Kenneth) of Gifford, Patricia Risner of Newland, Jessica Carroll (husband: Jake) of Kouts and Marsha Conley (husband: Frank) of Medaryville; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Milard and Shirley Stone; daughter Dianna Giroux; and brother-in-law Roger Risner.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Gary Menard officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Weston Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Jasper County Hospital Oncology Department.
