Obituary for Emily B. "Betty" Yeoman (Horler)

Emily B. "Betty"  Yeoman (Horler)
Emily “Betty” Yeoman, 90, of Rensselaer, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. She was born Feb. 6, 1925 in Shropshire, England, the daughter of the late John and Martha (Hanna) Horler. She attended school in England and then worked for the Lancaster Company making airplane wings during WWII. Betty was an English war bride. On July 1, 1944 she married Charles E. Yeoman. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1986.

Betty came to America aboard the Queen Mary on April 21, 1946 to join Charles. They moved to Rensselaer in 1965. Betty was a mother and homemaker. She attended the First Christian Church of Rensselaer. She enjoyed flowers and plants, cooking, crocheting and knitting.

Betty is survived by her loving family: two sons, Raymond E. (wife: Elizabeth) Yeoman of Rensselaer and Gerald C. (wife: Stacey) Yeoman of Lafayette; four daughters: Susan D. (Mrs. David) Redmond of Tennessee, Cheryl K. Wicker (significant other: Don Cates) of Rensselaer, Gayle L. (Mrs. Mark) Sinclair of Rensselaer and Patricia L. (Mrs. Stoney) Nuss of Rensselaer; seventeen grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Martha Horler; her husband, Charles E. Yeoman; seven brothers; three sisters; and one great grandson.

Friends may visit on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 from 3-7 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at 10 a.m. (CST) with Rev.
