Obituary for Marion "Gene" Skinner

Marion "Gene"  Skinner
Marion “Gene” Skinner, age 88, of Rensselaer, passed away Sunday evening December 7, 2014 at the George Ade Care Center in Brook. He was born September 16, 1926 in St. Louis, Mo to Charles and Stella Louise Skinner. Gene was a truck driver for Teamster Local 142 for most of his life. He also worked for the Rensselaer Park Dept. and as a crossing guard for the Rensselaer school system.

In 1956 he married Joan Nicholls in Hebron, In. Gene was a past member of the Rensselaer American Legion, and enjoyed bowling, and doing yard work. He also was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.


Gene is survived by his loving wife Joan, 3 daughters: Sandi (Daryl) Strohmeier,
Carol (Norm) Williams, Jackie (Brian) Molter, 3 sons Mark (Nora) Skinner, David (Joann) Skinner, and Donald (Sally) Skinner all of Rensselaer, 15 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Granchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one son-in-law, one grandson and one great grandson.

Friends may call at the Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer In, Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday 10 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Andrew Overly officiating. Interment will be in the Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer, In
