Obituary for Marie A. Wood (Frisk)

Marie A. Wood, 83, of Rensselaer, passed away peacefully Monday evening, Dec. 16, 2013 at Jasper County Hospital. She was born in Rensselaer April 28, 1930 to Andrew and Kate (Welsh) Frisk. She graduated from Rensselaer High School with the class of 1948. On Oct. 1, 1950, in Rensselaer, she married William L. Wood. He preceded her in death July 30, 2009.

Marie worked for Kroger in Greenfield and A&P in Rensselaer, where she was a Deli Manager. She retired in 1984. She was a past President of the Eagles Auxiliary. Marie was a big Michigan State fan and enjoyed watching basketball. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, sewing and playing cards, especially euchre. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her loving family: son Clifford Wood (Coleen) of Rensselaer; three daughters: Belinda Robinson (Mike) of Rensselaer, Glenna Carter (Dave Barden) of Rensselaer, and Lisa Wood of Indianapolis; five grandchildren: Angela Marie Walton (Derek) of Indianapolis, Megan Wood of Indianapolis, Shawon Carter (Whitney) of Rensselaer, Jenna Marie McDole (Jeffrey) of Indianapolis, and Cliff Robinson of Lafayette; and three great grandchildren: Joy, Ella and Holdyn. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Andrew and Kate Frisk; her husband, William L. Wood; and her sister, Gladys Dewey.

Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral of Rensselaer with Rev. Marcia Smith-Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Rensselaer VFW immediately following interment. Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer is handling the arrangements.
