Obituary for Lillian Floyd

Lillian Faye Floyd, age 74 of Rensselaer, passed away July 11, 2009 at her home. She was born in Salyersville, Kentucky on December 26, 1934, a daughter of the Late Leebo and Mollie (Salyers) Whitaker. She moved to Rensselaer as a child and was educated in the Rensselaer Public Schools. She attended St. Joseph College for a year. She had been an employee of Peerless Laundry for a number of years, and then worked in the Food Service at St. Joseph College for over 31 years. She attended the First Baptist Church of Rensselaer. On August 3, 1990 in Rensselaer, she married Lester W. Floyd. He survives. Surviving are sons, Kenny Whitaker and David Richie, step-sons, Earl (wife: Linda) Floyd, Jeff (Companion: Mary) Floyd and George (wife: Claudia) Floyd; brothers, Marvin (wife: Betty) Whitaker of Monticello and Jack (wife: Pat) Whitaker of Rensselaer; a sister, May Madison of Irvine, Kentucky; 2 step-grandsons, 1 step granddaughter and 1 great granddaughter along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, 3 brothers, a sister, and 2 nephews. Friends may call from 4 till 8 P.M., Monday, July 13th at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Steinke Funeral Home with Mr. Ernie Randolph officiating. Interment follows at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer.
