Rose Ann Nagel, 76 of Brook, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away December 6, 2009 at her home. She was born January 16, 1933 daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Jessie (Hall) DeWees. She graduated from Rensselaer High School with the class of 1951 and was a lifetime area resident. On January 28, 1952 in Rensselaer, Rose Ann married Cletus B. Nagel. He preceded her in death. Rose Ann was a supervisor at Shumaker Electric Company, working there for over 34 years and retiring in 1995. She later worked in the kitchen at Van Rensselaer Elementary School for over 5 years. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Rose Ann was very active in the community and enjoyed helping others. Surviving are children: Stephen B. (Marsha) Nagel and Cynthia (Terry) Briles, all of Rensselaer and Catherine Ulm of Brook. There are 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Siblings are Richard (Mary Jane) DeWees of Lebanon, IN, Carroll (Alice) DeWees of Broken Arrow, OK, Reatha (Floyd) Demps of Delphi, IN, Connie (Dan) Casper of Lake County, IN and Linda (Harlan) Kindig of Kentland, IN. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Memorials are suggested to St. Augustine Catholic School or Jasper County Hospice. Friends may call from 3 PM until time of Prayer Service at 7 PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Tim Knepper officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
