Obituary for Juanita Kerns

Juanita June Kerns, 83 of Rensselaer, passed away Monday, May 3rd at Jasper County Hospital. She was born in Rensselaer on July 27, 1926, daughter of the late Orville & Ethel (Ray) Maxwell. Juanita was a lifetime Jasper County resident, graduating from Rensselaer High School with the Class of 1945. On May 9, 1946 she married Albert Lee Kerns. He died July 29, 1992. Juanita had been a cook at the Rensselaer Schools for over 12 years and was a Hostess at Devon’s in Rensselaer for over 10 years. She was a Lifetime Member of Rebecca Club, belonged to Bunco Club, Home Ec Club, Literary Club and was a great supporter of the local cancer society. Children surviving are: Gale L. Kerns (wife: Noreen) and Linda D. Stevens (Mrs. Max) both of Rensselaer and Becky Redinbo (Mrs. Richard) of Lafayette, Indiana. A brother and sister survive: Delos Maxwell (wife: Iris) of Indianapolis and Carol Ristau (Mrs. Ed) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. There are 6 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren surviving. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a brother and a grandson. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, May 6th from 5 until 7:00 P.M. at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer. Funeral services will be May 7th at 10:00 A.M. at Steinke Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Klinger officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery, Rensselaer. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association, Heart Association or Cancer Society.
