Obituary for Lillian Floyd

Lillian Floyd, 96, of Morocco passed away July 27, 2010 at Jasper County Hospital. She was born February 17, 1914 in Medford, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Frederick and Matilda (Rabbidean) Kaemmerer. A graduate of the Medford High School, Teachers College and a course in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin. She was Assistant Librarian at the Medford Public Library for 5 years and Librarian there for 6 years until her resignation on December 31, 1948. On November 23, 1948 she married Paul J. Floyd at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, Wisconsin and moved to his farm near Morocco, Indiana. Paul preceded her in death on October 16, 1987. In June 1964, Lillian became Librarian for the Newton County Contractual Library in Morocco and served there until her retirement on December 31, 1984. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer, Indiana; a member of the Christian Women Society, St. Ann Study Club, K C Auxiliary, Past President of the Newton County Homemakers Extension Club, Jackson Hi Neighbors, Smile Club, Jolly Twelve, Willing Worker, Pinochle and Euchre Clubs, Newton Bella Red Hats. Lillian enjoyed reading, travel and cards. There are no immediate survivors. Visitation will be at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel in Morocco on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M., Fr. Gilbert officiating. Funeral Mass Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. (Rensselaer Time) at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. Fr. Tim Knepper officiating. Internment follows at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Rensselaer. Memorials are suggested to St. Augustine Church, Gibault School or Morocco Library.
