Obituary for Richard Neibert

Richard W. Neibert, age 73 of Morocco, passed away in his home Saturday evening, Sept. 24, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born in Watseka, IL on Dec. 18, 1937, son of the late Henry J. Neibert and Jennie M. (Bingham) Neibert. He was a lifelong area resident. Richard attended grade school in Enos and graduated from Morocco High School with the class of 1956. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1960-1964.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Joyce (Martin) whom he married on Mar. 9, 1963 in Morocco and their three children: Kent (Sheryl) Neibert of Morocco, Kyle (Tara) Neibert of Alpharetta, GA, and Kati (Todd) Rainbolt of Bradley, IL. Nine grandchildren: Brittney (Brock) Iseminger, Andrew Neibert and Brandon Neibert of Morocco; Ryan Neibert, Justin Neibert, Sydney Neibert and Morgan Neibert of Alpharetta, GA; Eden Rainbolt and Eric Rainbolt of Bradley, IL; and two great-grandchildren: Briley Iseminger and Brynn Iseminger of Morocco.

Richard was a lifelong farmer and was active in the community. He was a member of the United Church of Morocco. He was also a member and past commander of American Legion Post #146 of Morocco, 40&8 veterans organization of Fowler, Northern Indiana Chapter #33 of the International Harvester Collectors Club, Retired Iron Club, and Knights of Pythias. Richard loved farming, working outdoors, participating in antique tractor and machinery shows and plow days. He was an avid collector of antique tractors and equipment. He was also a model train enthusiast and was especially proud of his model railroad, which he designed and built in his home. Richard was also active politically and was currently serving as precinct committeeman of McClellan Township for the Newton County Democratic Central Committee. Richard was a man of loyalty and integrity. He lived by a strong set of ethics and family values. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco Pastor Jack Snell officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. The family suggests donations in Richard’s memory to American Legion Post #146 or the organization of the donor’s choosing.
