Obituary for Thomas Dawson

Thomas Allen “Tom” Dawson, age 54, of Morocco, passed away at 1:46 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook after a brief illness. He was born in Rensselaer on September 24, 1957, son of the late Dale and Carol (Bohler) Dawson. He was a lifelong Morocco area resident.

Tom graduated from North Newton High School with the Class of 1975. He went on to attend Indiana State University, graduating with his bachelors degree in automotive technology in 1980. He worked for the family business, Dawson Farm Center, as a custom applicator for 30 years, and recently had been a sales representative for Wilson Fertilizer Sales. He was a member of the United Church of Morocco. He was very active in the Newton County 4-H programs and breeding and showing sheep. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

On July 26, 1980 in Loogootee, Indiana, Tom married Eileen Walker, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are two daughters: Demetria Dawson (husband: Scott Lindsay) of Indianapolis and Katherine Dawson (companion: Brandon Davenport) of West Lafayette; and two brothers: Jake Dawson (wife: Brenda) of Morocco and Bob Dawson (wife: Valerie) of Morocco. Tom was preceded in death by his parents: Dale and Carol (Bohler) Dawson; maternal grandparents: Erwin and Trulalee (Dinsmore) Bohler; and paternal grandparents: Lawrence “Pappy” and Verda (Hickman) Dawson.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Morocco Community Center, 409 S. Polk Street, from 4 – 8 p.m. CDT. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. CDT at the United Church of Morocco, 104 W. College Avenue, with Rev. Thomas D. Vance officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Donations in Tom’s memory are suggested to the Newton County 4-H.
