Lester W. Floyd, 78, of Rensselaer, passed away Sunday morning, February 3, 2013 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. Lester was born in Woody, Tennessee on April 14, 1934, the son of the late Fate and Melissa (Conley) Floyd. He had been a resident of Rensselaer for over 30 years.

Lester worked as a welder and had also been a rest park attendant for the CDC. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by his family.

Lester is survived by his loving family: three sons: Earl J. Floyd (wife: Linda) of Rensselaer, George Floyd (wife: Claudia) of North Judson, and Jeff Floyd (companion: Mary Honn) of Brook; four grandchildren: Earl Floyd and Brandon Floyd (wife: Angie), both of Rensselaer, Jennifer Floyd of Plymouth, IN, and James Honn of Brook; two great-grandchildren, Daelee and Caioyee; and one sister, Gladys Redwine of Kentucky.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Lula Mae (Cunningham) Floyd, who passed away in 1971; and his second wife Lillian Faye Floyd, who passed away in 2009.

Per Lester’s wishes, cremation will take place and private family services will be held at a later date. Donations in Lester’s memory are suggested to the family. Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer is handling the arrangements. Share memories and condolences online at www.SteinkeFuneralHome.com.
